Tell us about your family.
I am a Smithtown mom of two year old twins, who married a boy she’s known since she was 6 – we grew up on the same block
How did you get into the solar panel business?
I was interested in getting solar for myself and after speaking with the owners of the company and being amazed at how much people can save it seemed like an amazing opportunity to sell them myself too. I am always looking to help, and in this economy so many families are struggling financially and if solar can save you $100 a month, that’s an extra $100 in your pocket.
What inspired you to focus on selling solar panels specifically?
There are insane NYS rebates going on right now to get people to go solar, so between the rebates and the monthly savings it’s a no brainer. There is no money down, you just start paying monthly once the panels go up. It’s an amazing opportunity with the rebates!
How do you balance being a mom and running your own business in the solar industry?
Being a mom is a job in itself as we all know, but you have to do what you have to do and I need to bring in some sort of income for my family. I tend to work most at night when my kids go to sleep or during the two days a week they are at school.
How do you think the adoption of solar energy has impacted families and communities?
Solar is going to start taking over PSEG more and more once the people in NY understand the magnitude of tax refunds they can receive. Green energy is the way to go!
What do you think are the biggest misconceptions people have about solar energy, and how do you address them in your sales approach?
I’m not sure why there is such a stigma around solar panels, I think people are afraid it’s a scam and they will still be getting a large PSEG bill and then they’d be double paying, but it’s not like that. We make sure you have enough panels on your house to cover the amount of every you use on average so the energy generated from your solar panels should completely cover the amount of energy your household uses.
What impact do you hope to have on the environment and future generations through your work in the solar industry?
I hope to help families who are struggling to pay the bills by lowering their monthly cost. I also hope to help people who need new roof’s but don’t have the cash to lay out for the job. With our program you can roll the cost of your roof and solar panels into one loan and sometimes it’s still less than your average PSEG bill! It’s crazy!
